No? That’s okay. Realistically, unless you’re a university student, there’s probably no good reason for you to have come across this new drink phenomenon.

But here’s a breakdown for those who like to stay up to date with the important and exciting world of college drinking trends.

Borg stands for “black out rage gallon.” Why? We have no idea. We’re too old to understand.

But what all borgs seem to have in common are the following: a one gallon bottle of water, hard liquor, water flavouring, and some type of electrolyte or liquid IV component.

Proponents say it’s an effective way to customise and control alcohol intake during parties while preemptively preparing for hangovers.

Opponents say it’s a very good way of masking the taste of alcohol, making it much easier for people to consume more booze than they normally would.
